WEREWOLF RANKS
- ALPHA -
The rank Alpha has traditionally been held by male werewolves. Usually passed down from father to son in a dynasty until the family is overthrown by a competing male. This can cause dynasties to not last as long as others, but this is very rare to happen since the Alpha Males are typically the strongest and/or a great strategist. They are responsible for everything in the pack and are the ones to keep the pack together as well as in order.
- ALPHA'S HEIR -
Usually the first child born to the Alpha Male with his chosen mate. This child is raised to one day take the place of the Alpha to keep the lineage going. Sometimes a female is born first which results in the very few cases of the Alpha being a female instead of male. Usually female heirs are married or paired off to a mate young so a male can stay in charge. The heir is expected to be ideal for the pack and if not, they can lose their title to a sibling that is more abled.
- BETA -
Second in command, the Beta is the Alpha's right hand and most trusted member of the pack, coming close to second to the Alpha's own family. He is appointed by the Alpha, and commonly rises to this powerful rank when the Alpha first assumes leadership. The Beta is in charge of doing the Alpha's dirty work--or at least the work left to be done. They patrol the borders with other members of the pack and organize pack hunting trips--with the Alpha's ultimate approval, of course. In addition to being second in command they advise their leader, and it is not uncommon for the Beta to be a wiser and older member of the Alpha's family.
- GAMMAS -
Respected members of the pack that hold influential positions in town--that being policemen, firemen, business owners, etc.--are called Gammas. Not all Gammas are active and powerful citizens of their respected town. Any member of the pack who can provide an essential key to the pack's survival (looking the other way when werewolf business is afoot, holding secret meetings in their home/place of business), is elevated to this rank.
- DELTAS -
Deltas are the everyday members of the pack, ranging from children to elders. Smaller cliques between the pack's youth emulate miniature versions of the pack itself, as each clique of children or young adults has their own leader. While only a nuisance to the adults, they can prove to be a problem when the child leaders grow up to challenge the Alpha's authority and often compete for Beta. The Deltas are normally where the next Alpha will choose his support group from when he takes over.
- PUPS -
A pup is a very well looked after member of the pack. Often once old enough to come to the meetings, the members will take turn sitting them until they too are ready to go out on a hunt and learn the ways of the pack. Like a true pack, the members cannot just have a pup when they want. They must ask permission from their current alpha male and alpha female (if a female is present at the time) to make sure the pack will have resources to support the growth. A pup taken in, meaning a given to the pack or found and taken from a rogue, often isn't as well accepted as a pup born to the pack.
- OMEGAS -
The second-lowest rank in the pack. The Omegas only out rank the Bittens because they were born a werewolf and have a bit more respect amongst their pack. While an Omega can go up in rank and move out of this category, they still suffer torment from the pack. While in this rank they are often teased and forced to eat last as they are seen as the expendables.
- BITTENS -
A serious problem for the pack that the Bitten joins as they can't really move up in rank. It's uncommon-not unheard of- for one to really be accepted into the pack and get a high rank. Bittens are unstable and often untrusted by majority of the pack since they are not accustom to shifting and never are they allowed to watch the pups or tend to them. Little tasks are given to them, but rarely does anyone trust them with anything important.
- ROGUES -
A never-ending problem for the pack, Rogues are werewolves that do not associate themselves with the TOWN NAME HERE pack, or any pack for that matter. The two parties acknowledge each other's presence and simply leave it at that--the rogues do not encroach on the pack's hunting grounds, and the members do not seek a fight with them. This is not to say that there have not been conflicts in the past, though, and as long as the Curran dynasty is concerned, rogues are merely a nuisance to be wary of. Until, that is, the murders began.
HUMAN POSITIONS AND RANKS
** Unlike werewolves this can be added to as seen fit and is flexible as the towns develop.**
- Civilians -
Blissfully unaware of the werewolves existence for the most cases, the humans of the Silvius Mountains merely attribute the strange happenings of the town as being just that: strange occurrences in sleepy forest towns. Never in the history of the packs has there been a major conflict with their mortal counterparts, though the few encounters between man and wolf have made their way into the packs' lore. That doesn't mean there aren't humans who remember, and truly believe in what they saw.
- Hunters -
Hunters have been around in the area just as long as the werewolves have. They keep each other in check, and that isn't saying they have any sort of alliance. They only have an alliance not to expose each other. That's it. Past that both are open season all the time. The hunters tend to be from families that have hunted since the formation of the towns themselves.
